Life Changes When You Start Living Alone Abroad

Living alone abroad is much harder than we imagine before coming here.

When you decide to live alone in another country, your real journey starts from that moment. From then on, every decision is yours, and you have to take it by yourself.

After moving abroad, decision-making becomes a part of your daily life. For example, while looking for a place to live, you keep thinking:
Should I choose a shared house or a private room?
What if the people I live with are not my kind?
Will I feel lonely if I live alone?

After all this thinking, you make an important decision and choose a place to live. That decision affects your comfort, your mood, and even your daily routine.

Living abroad also teaches you the value of money. You have to earn for your own expenses, so you automatically start cutting unnecessary spending. Things that once felt normal suddenly feel optional, and you understand how hard it is to earn money.

You also need to be more punctual and disciplined. Your eating habits, keeping your space clean and neat — all these things matter a lot. They directly affect your mood, your thinking, and your overall routine.

Making new friends is also very important. If you don’t try, you may start feeling bored or lonely. Talk to people, go for walks together, and do some activities. These small things really help your mental health.

If you are living in a shared house, try to ignore small habits of others that you don’t like. Not everything needs correction. Sometimes adjusting and letting things go makes shared living easier and more peaceful.

I just wanted to share what living abroad actually feels like, based on my personal experience.

I’ll be sharing more personal stories about my experience of living alone abroad in upcoming posts. These stories are based on real moments, real challenges, and real lessons. Stay tuned.

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog.
